Becoming a Surrogate Outside California
Even if you don’t live in California, you can still become a surrogate with Blessing Surrogacy — we welcome qualified surrogates from many U.S. states. The process is slightly different depending on your location, but here’s how it generally works:
1. Initial Eligibility Review
First, our team confirms that surrogacy is legally permitted in your state. Most U.S. states allow gestational surrogacy under specific guidelines. If your state has restrictions, independent attorneys must confirm that the proposed arrangement is permitted before treatment.
2. Remote Screening & Medical Evaluation
All initial steps — interviews, psychological screening, and document submission — can be done online or through local clinics. Once matched, we coordinate your medical screening travel (a limited number of trips, depending on clinic and medical requirements).
3. Travel & Compensation Coverage
When travel is required, approved travel expenses—such as flights, hotel, and per diem—are handled according to your agreement. Compensation is paid according to the schedule and conditions in your signed agreement.
4. Legal Support and Contracts
Every surrogate receives independent legal representation. Independent attorneys review California’s surrogacy law and your home state’s requirements and explain the rights and responsibilities to each party.
5. Delivery Options
Delivery planning depends on medical needs, hospital requirements, the states involved, and independent legal review. If needed, we can also arrange delivery in California with travel assistance as specified in the agreement.
❤️ Summary
Living outside California may still allow you to participate, depending on individual medical and legal review. Blessing Surrogacy coordinates legal, medical, travel, and financial information throughout the process.
Preliminary Requirements to Become a Gestational Carrier
Our preliminary guidelines consider health and pregnancy history, prior parenting experience, age, residency, lifestyle, and the stability of your support system. Final eligibility is determined through professional review.
Good Physical and Mental Health
Must be in overall good health, with a non-smoking and drug-free lifestyle, together with an individualized medical and psychosocial evaluation that includes current and past medications. Body Mass Index (BMI) should be 30 or below.
Proven Pregnancy and Parenting Experience
Should have successfully carried at least one child to term without complications, and no more than two C-sections. Prior parenting experience helps ensure confidence throughout the surrogacy journey.
Stable and Supportive Living Environment
Must have a stable living environment with emotional and childcare support from family or loved ones, to support well-being throughout the pregnancy.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants generally must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, ages 21–39, and able to demonstrate a stable living environment. Additional financial and program criteria are reviewed individually.

Final eligibility depends on clinic, medical, mental-health, legal, and state review.
Estimated packages commonly range from $60,000 to $90,000 or more, but figures are not a quote or guarantee. Experience, location, medical history, matching circumstances, insurance, travel, and the signed agreement can change the estimate.
There is no fixed duration. Record collection, screening, matching, legal clearance, treatment scheduling, transfer outcome, pregnancy, and recovery all affect timing.
Every pregnancy and fertility-treatment cycle carries possible physical and psychological risks. Qualified professionals review your history and explain the medication, transfer, pregnancy, and follow-up plan before consent.
No. A gestational carrier carries an embryo created using the gametes of intended parents, donors, or both and is not genetically related to that embryo.
No. Law and procedure vary by state and by the facts of the proposed arrangement. Independent attorneys review the relevant locations before treatment.
Possibly, but California law cannot bypass restrictions elsewhere. The carrier’s home state, intended parents’ state, treatment location, and delivery plan require individual legal review.
Screening may include medical records, laboratory testing, uterine evaluation, infectious-disease testing, psychosocial evaluation, background review, and clinic-specific requirements. The professionals involved determine what is appropriate.
The intended parents’ fertility clinic commonly manages embryo transfer. Prenatal and delivery care arrangements depend on provider availability, medical needs, location, insurance, and mutual planning. The carrier remains the source of consent for her care.
Information is handled under the Privacy Policy and shared as appropriate for screening, matching, and professional review. Separate attorneys explain confidentiality, the agreement, medical information, and parentage procedures.
